In all the villages surrounding this area

One is the "Solid'Air ", that's a 10 hours of mountain- biking ride that will take place the 9th of May 2009 in Nendaz, and the famous "Grand Raid" ( in August ) with its 132km the longest mountain bike race in the world. With more than 4000 participants it attracts a huge crowd of spectators.

Verbier with his 200kms of trails and it's own downhill mountainbike park is de center for biking in de 4 Vallees. There are plenty of trails that are suitable for families, without having to bike with full body Armour. For the speedsters and hardcore downhillers offers Verbier the downhill tracks running down the slopes of Ruinettes and Médran covering 6 kms of terrain with a 700m drop in altitude. The Tourist Office run (in the summer months) to free guided bike tours around the Area.
In Verbier itself you find lot shops to rent or service your bike, the price of renting varies from store to store, but in general you pay 40 to 100 CHF depends on wether you select a basic bike or a full on free ride descent bike.(NB: In French, mountain biking is called VTT (Vélo tout-terrain!)
or downhill fans there is park (2006) with 6 km of serious downhill tracks running from Ruinettes to the Médran. In 2008 there are four more tracks proposed, stretching for over 20 km of length. The level of difficulty will be divided in 10% green,20% blue, 40% red and 30% black.
For use of the park you buy a day or half day-ticket witch give you unlimited acces to the Ruinettes.
Each Afternoon with a minimum of 2 people pro-riders of verbiers bike team are available to show you around the trails. The park is usually open from mid-June until mid-September and then weekends only until the end of October.

Tour de Montfort is a classic VTT (MTB) route linking Nendaz,Verbier and Tsoumaz.
There are two versions of the ride:
The easy rider version is a ride that uses more lifts than the"pro rider"tour, so that you can do the same descent with practically no work at all.
For the 50km ride you should be experienced in cycling gravel and mountain roads. The climbs ( 6km ) will lead to the top of 2894 m( last part cable lift). The descent from col de gentianes (view Mont-Blanc)is one of the strong points of this tour. For more info please click the following link : Tour de Montfort
